Hello, I’m Christina Brown, a Certified Advanced Peer Addiction Specialist (CAPAS), Community Services Worker, Employment Specialist, and author.

My Journey

My passion for supporting individuals and families affected by addiction comes from both lived experience and years of working in community services. Through my professional experience and my personal journey, I have witnessed the challenges addiction creates—not only for the individual, but for the entire family.

As an Employment Specialist, I support individuals as they work toward meaningful employment and personal goals. My previous experience as a Case Manager strengthened my understanding of advocacy, community resources, and person-centred support.

Why Unity Path Family Support?

Unity Path Family Support was inspired by both my personal journey and my professional experience.

As the parent of a loved one  affected by addiction, I know firsthand that addiction impacts the entire family. It can be an emotional roller coaster that consumes your thoughts, your energy, and your well-being. Families need support too, yet they are often overlooked.

Families often struggle in silence. Many don’t know where to turn, what healthy support looks like, or how to care for themselves without feeling guilt or shame. I understand those feelings because I’ve lived them.

Through faith, education, and support, I learned to refocus on my own well-being while continuing to love and support my daughter. That journey inspired me to write Love, Let Go, and Hope and Learning to Breathe Again, and to create Unity Path Family Support.

I believe healing and recovery look different for everyone. There is no single path, and no two journeys are exactly alike. My hope is to encourage individuals and families to explore the supports, resources, and approaches that are meaningful to them while remembering that progress often happens one step at a time.

My hope is that every person who visits Unity Path Family Support feels seen, supported, empowered, and reminded that they don’t have to walk this journey alone.

Breaking the Silence

Addiction can be overwhelming. Many families quietly carry the weight of fear, uncertainty, guilt, and grief while trying to hold everything together.

Too often, families feel they need to hide their struggles or face them alone. But your voice matters. Your feelings matter. Asking for support isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s a courageous step toward hope, healing, and resilience.

You deserve to be heard, supported, and cared for, too. By breaking the silence, we create space for honest conversations, healthier boundaries, renewed strength, and the reminder that no one should have to walk this journey alone.

My Hope

My work is educational and non-clinical. I do not provide counselling, psychotherapy, diagnosis, treatment, or crisis intervention. Instead, I offer peer support informed by my lived experience as the parent of a loved one affected by addiction, along with educational resources, practical tools, encouragement, and information.

Whether you’re supporting a child, spouse, sibling, parent, or friend affected by addiction, you deserve support too.

My hope is that Unity Path Family Support becomes a place where individuals and families feel seen, heard, and supported.

I hope to encourage healthy recovery by promoting education, compassionate peer support, self-care, healthy boundaries, and meaningful community connections. I believe that through collaboration, understanding, and access to trusted resources, we can help reduce stigma, strengthen families, and remind one another that no one has to face this journey alone.

Above all, I hope you leave knowing that your voice matters, your feelings are valid, and that hope and healing are possible; one step at a time.

Thank you for visiting.
